The more I read blogs, the more I read about how displeased current clients are of the (gs) grid server level over at Media Temple.
Why the long face? Back in 2006, I started a hosting partnership that went downhill and decided to go with Zeldman’s suggestion of Media Temple.
Bottom line, I couldn’t be more happy with Media Temple. I’ve had two small problems, both fixed immediately on the phone, but not before 10 minutes of chatting about the tech’s and I’s Integra mods. The people are friendly, the uptime is remarkable and in terms of “all the downtime,” the only time my websites have been down is for two sets of scheduled maintenance, both in the early hours of the morning.
My vote stands with Media Temple.

dan added these pithy words on Mar 28 07 at 9:41 pmI agree, Derek. After a lot of thinking about hosts and poking around, I went with (mt) when I needed a new host. I try to think about the positive… all sites have problems occasionally–don’t remind me! (I’m a sysadmin/web systems analyst for a university, and we have an instance of Apache that likes to hang once a day no matter what I do… but, that’s another subject. :-)
Media Temple was my choice primarily based on their well known Good Customer Service and their infrastructure. Good business is based on communication. Even when they have had problems, they’ve kept there clients informed and they are working on the solutions. They run a class iv data center with 11 BGP feed peers! That’s almost unheard of in the web hosting industry.
I’m a new client, so I’m going to let them prove themselves to me, and I have faith they will. -Dan

New technology will always suffer — initially — from critical feedback. Many people expect things to simply work, and when they don’t, they’re disappointed. In reality, (mt) has done a great job in rolling out (gs). They’ve learned from new insights after launch and they’ve identified the areas that needed to be addressed.
There is no such thing as the “Perfect Lunch”.
I’m quite proud to be an (mt) client — and I’m definitely here for the long haul.
